 The Cat Haven is currently undergoing a complete, necessary makeover—a monumental undertaking born not of whim, but of sheer survival following a relentless barrage of natural disasters.

 The trauma began with Hurricane Ian in 2022, a storm that struck moments after we had completed extensive, costly exterior renovations: fresh paint, new gutters, and updated fixtures were all reduced to ruins. The destruction was immediate and total; five brand-new sheds were ripped from their moorings, the perimeter fence vanished, and the fascia and windows were severely compromised. 

Beyond the structural devastation, Ian stole the soul of the property, blowing almost every beautiful tree, plant, and bush out of the ground—a loss of nature and tranquility that caused deep, unspoken trauma. 

Tragically, the cruel cycle continued last year when back-to-back hurricanes destroyed much of what we had painstakingly repaired and even negated the effort to replant the grounds. 

We faced catastrophic flooding, with water breaching the walls, windows, and A.C. units, escalating the damage far beyond the initial hit. 

This has necessitated an exhaustive preparation for a full remodel, ensuring the structure can withstand future threats. 

Though the work has been immensely challenging and taxing, the focus remains fiercely on the future, knowing that when this intense period of rebuilding is complete, the resilience of the Haven, and the sanctuary it provides, will be absolutely pawsome.
